AEL specialises in work to understand the impacts of people and climate in drylands and desert environments. Our skills include soil health and vegetation assessment, experimental design and analysis of ecological data, assessment of grazing impacts on plants and soils, and developing rangeland monitoring projects.  We have active research projects in China and Saudi Arabia. Recent projects include developing and operationalising monitoring programs in Saudi Arabia, providing advice on the Invasive Native Shrub Code, developing grazing management plans for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
